Backstage with The Struts

The Struts are a Derby-based four-piece glam indie rock ‘n’ roll, full on, energy filled band with bags of personality and a distinctive style that mixes Marc Bolan T-Rex style with a handful of Rolling Stone. The Struts are Luke Spiller (lead vocals), Adam Slack (guitar), Jed Elliott (bass) and Gethin Davies (drums).

True to their name, they embody a bold, brash and bravura counterpoint to an increasingly over-calculated and lackluster rock scene – combining the best elements of both past and present acts into a distinctly modern creation: “We’ve got the swagger of The Rolling Stones, the sophistication of Queen, the pop mentality of The Vaccines and the glamorous attitude of T. Rex.”

Despite their undeniable rock pedigree, The Struts have intriguingly collaborated with guru pop producer-songwriters Red Triangle (One Direction, Little Mix, The Saturdays, Alexandra Burke) and Ray Hedges (Take That, Boyzone, B*Witched, Gareth Gates). 2013 debut single “I Just Know”, follow-up “Could Have Been Me”, and third single “Kiss This” therefore uniquely offer up arena rock monster riffs, epic chord progressions and anthemic choruses with the laser-precision catchiness of pure pop. The band’s eclectic mix of accomplished covers on YouTube (Édith Piaf, The Black Keys, Daft Punk, Cheryl Cole, Stooshe, Gotye, Lorde) further prove their desire to learn from and build upon expert songwriting, no matter the stylistic origin.

With the recent release of fourth single “Put Your Money On Me”, their debut full-length album “Everybody Wants” due July 28th, a UK headline and festival tour in progress, and a jaw-drop slot supporting The Rolling Stones’ “14 On Fire Tour” at Stade de France in Paris on June 13th (sold out capacity: 81,000), this year is set to be one helluva step forward in The Struts’ inevitable global overthrow!
